Hi there. I'm looking for ideas on what people do to assess speaking skills.
Grazie

For Year 7, we get the students onto Voki. It’s great. They create an avatar and then record their self-introductions (www.voki.com)

Students are placed in pairs and their assigned dialogue is presented in front of a webcam. This allows the class to complete the task at the same time. I get to mark their dialogue and still see them.

Students are given a set of questions to prepare answers for. On the assessment day, they are presented with a number of them and record their responses. Alternatively, they have a one-on-one conversation with the teacher.

A stimulus picture is presented and without writing notes, students record a commentary on it. Eg Che cosa ha fatto il ragazzo durante le vacanze?

Voicethread is great for commentary on images. www.voicethread.com

A pair dialogue presentation in front of the class or a recount with accompanying images
